What We Believe

Mission
The Borinqueneers MC Motorcycle Club ride to honor the contributions, achievements, and struggles of the only Hispanic segregated unit in United States military history. The 65th Infantry Regiment, with its long and honorable tradition, has been distinguished since its inception as a volunteer regiment in 1899. Their original name was Porto Rico Regiment, but quickly adapted the name Borinqueneers. From the vocabulary of our Taino ancestors, the word Boricua means - "BravePeople", and the word Borinken means "Great Land of the Brave and Noble Lord". The soldiers of the 65TH infantry proved themselves to be fierce warriors and were nicknamedthe BORINQUENEERS. The noble service of the 65TH InfantryRegiment is illustrated in its regimental motto “HONOR ANDFIDELITY”. We honor them by wearing their motto on our lower insignia with our state name just below.
History
In May 2005, the original founder, Lourdes Santiago-Perez enacted the Borinqueneers Motorcycle Club. Seeing the absence of a Hispanic Oriented Motorcycle Club that rode with pride and dedication to a just mission. The Original Borinqueneers were a group of enlisted US Army Military men from Puerto Rico who fought in Korea. Upon learning the history of the 65th Infantry Regiment, and after discovering that her Great Grandfather Nicanor Santiago enlisted in the Porto Rico Regiment in 1901, then went on to serve until 1904. Having personal tides, and great respect for these valiant men of the 65th Infantry Regiment, a vision was formed. Today we ride proudly as the Borinqueneers MC. The Borinqueneers MC motorcycle club are made-up of law enforcement, veterans, and is a family-oriented club. Its original members are Lourdes “Boobie” Mondesi-Santiago (Perez) and Lizza “GI-Jane” Mondesi-Santiago.
Symbolism of Colors
THE COLORSThe colors of the club are those of our national flag, which is the greatest expression of nationality and pride: RED, WHITE AND BLUE. Red-The blood of our brave warriors. White- Victory and peace after obtaining independence. Blue- Our coastal skies and seas. The star in the center of the flag symbolizes our beautiful island. The Black Shield and the White Maltese Cross represent a custom used by the Knights of Malta, an old military order of Saint John of Jerusalem for which the City of San Juan, Puerto Rico was named. “La Garita” (EL MORRO) is a guard tower and sentry post which has become a national symbol. The Maltese Cross – The knights of Saint John of Jerusalem gave Malta the heritage of the Maltese cross. The 8 points of the cross was a symbol used by the knights of Malta to indicate the 8 obligations or aspirations of the knight. THE 8 OBLIGATIONS / ASPIRATIONS ARE:
1- LIVE WITH THE TRUTH2- HAVE FAITH3- REPENT OF SIN4- GIVE PROOF OF HUMILITY5- LOVE JUSTICE6- HAVE MERCY7- BE SINCERE AND GOOD-HEARTED8- RESIST PERSECUTION
